I led the creative development for Church on the Rock's month-long "Freedom" social media campaign. Timed to align with the O'Fallon Heritage & Freedom Fest Parade, the campaign aimed to energize and unify the church community around the theme "Free Indeed.”
The church needed a strong, cohesive visual identity that could communicate the spiritual theme of freedom across multiple digital and physical touchpoints while resonating with a broad congregation of all ages.
As the lead designer, I was responsible for creating a dynamic brand identity for the campaign and ensuring it translated across all touchpoints. This included: • Designing the bold 'FREEDOM' flag logo used across all assets • Developing social media banners (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) • Creating mobile and desktop wallpapers for member download • Designing the official campaign t-shirt worn at the parade
I used a minimal black-and-white color palette and geometric stripes to create a modern, bold interpretation of a flag motif. The stark contrast and clean lines symbolized strength and clarity, while the boxed "FREEDOM" type treatment served as both a visual anchor and a declarative statement. Execution • A coordinated rollout of branded assets across the church's digital platforms in June • Print-ready t-shirt designs distributed to hundreds of congregation members • Parade visuals featured campaign branding prominently to local audiences
• Increased social media engagement across Facebook and Instagram during June • High participation and visibility at the local Heritage & Freedom Fest • Hundreds of members proudly wearing the FREEDOM campaign shirts • Strengthened community pride and recognition for the church's creative effo
This project was a milestone in my early creative career, reinforcing the value of consistency in branding and the power of simple design. Even a decade later, the campaign stands out as a personal favorite for its clarity, cultural relevance, and heartfelt execution.
The creative direction and branding, including the t-shirt logo and social assets, helped tie the digital campaign to this real-world community event.
