Overview

During my internship with Spike.com at MTV Networks, I collaborated with the creative team on a high-impact visual campaign to promote multiple UFC events. My role focused on crafting compelling digital banners and homepage skins that matched the energy and visual identity of each fight. This project required cross-functional collaboration and fast-turnaround creative execution across multiple platforms including Spike.com, TheUltimateFighter.com, and Gametrailers.com.

🎯 The Challenge

Design high-quality, engaging UFC promotional content under strict brand guidelines while still making each fight visually distinct. Assets needed to be produced in multiple formats and sizes, optimized for web and mobile, and updated regularly leading up to each event.

🛠 My Role & Tools

• Designed digital banner ads for UFC 122, 123, and 124 across multiple platforms (Spike.com, TheUltimateFighter.com, and Gametrailers.com) • Adapted the UFC logo to match each fight's color scheme • Developed visual motifs like neon lightning cracks and digital cloud textures to amplify intensity • Edited and color-graded fighter imagery to align with each ad's aesthetic tone • Created a series of banner "skins" for different campaign dates (e.g., "Tonight", "Tomorrow", "Saturday") to drive timely engagement

🧪 What I Designed

Each set of promotional assets was built around a custom visual theme unique to the fight. I used deep saturation and contrast to heighten visual drama, while ensuring consistency across all display formats. These assets were optimized for web, mobile, and social viewing.

📈 The Impact

While exact metrics were not shared during my internship, the campaign successfully maintained visual momentum for UFC programming on Spike’s digital platforms. The creative work was consistently featured across high-traffic real estate, contributing to awareness and engagement during key broadcast periods

💡 What I Learned

This project sharpened my ability to work within strict branding systems while finding room for creative expression. It also gave me my first real-world experience in collaborating cross-functionally with art directors, producers, and digital teams to deliver high-performing creative on deadline.
